Important Update: 1-2-1 Private Lesson Price Adjustment Now in Effect

As previously communicated, the price adjustment for our 1-2-1 (and small private group) skateboarding lessons is now in effect as of July 1st, 2025.

Our 1-2-1 lesson pricing is now:

  • 1 Student: £45

  • 2 Students: £65 (£32.50 per person)

  • 3 Students: £85 (£28.33 per person)

  • 4 Students: £105 (£26.25 per person)

  • 5 Students (Maximum): £120 (£24 per person)

This adjustment helps us cover the increased costs associated with providing these highly valued, personalized private sessions, especially with the extended commute. We are committed to ensuring you continue to receive focused attention and accelerate your progress with dedicated coaching.

Remember, our group skateboarding lesson price remains held at £22.50, offering small class sizes for a hands-on learning experience.

We're incredibly passionate about helping you progress in your skateboarding journey and look forward to seeing you at our lessons throughout the summer!

Happy skating!

Coach Dell

Summer Skate Sessions are Almost Here!

Hey Skaters and Parents,

Get ready to roll into summer! We're excited to announce that our summer holiday lesson dates will be released in waves of 2 weeks, with the first phase of dates going live in the next 10 days. This new approach gives us flexibility with the weather and helps you book around your holiday plans.

We've been listening to your feedback and are making a few exciting changes to our schedule to give you more options and flexibility.

  1. Sunbury Skatepark Pop-Up Lessons: We'll be running a couple of special sessions at Sunbury skatepark this summer, giving you a chance to experience lessons at a different location. Releasing dates in 2-week waves will allow us to test the new park and see how much interest there is, and if you'd like us to keep it as an option or revert back to our regular lessons at Kingsfield.
  2. Saturday Beginner Lessons: Starting this summer, our regular Saturday beginner group lesson will be converted into a private lesson slot for the first few weekends. This will open up more availability for one-on-one coaching, perfect for those looking to fast-track their progress or just get some dedicated time with an instructor. We'll be testing this out for a few weeks to see how it goes.
  3. Summer Camp Dates: Please note that we will be away on certain dates this summer, as we'll be running awesome activity camps with Lazer Lions. A huge shout-out to Holly and her team for running a great play camp for all the young ones to get involved in!

We're looking forward to an awesome summer of skateboarding with all of you!

Important Updates: Enhancing Your Skateboarding Lesson Experience! (18th June)

Hi everyone,

We're excited to share some important updates regarding our skateboarding lessons, designed to continue providing you with the highest quality instruction and the best possible learning environment. These adjustments reflect our ongoing commitment to a premium, personalized experience for all our students.

1. Group Skateboarding Lessons: Price Held at £22.50!

As you know, our group lesson sizes are deliberately kept small – a maximum of 5 participants – to ensure a truly hands-on and focused learning experience. We previously communicated a two-stage price update for group lessons, with Stage 1 effective May 19th, 2025, setting the price at £22.50.

We are pleased to confirm that the price per person for our group skateboarding lessons will remain at £22.50 for the foreseeable future. We will not be implementing the previously planned Stage 2 price increase for group lessons. This decision allows us to continue offering these highly personalized small group sessions, providing more one-on-one time with your instructor compared to larger classes, while keeping them accessible for our community.

2. 1-2-1 Skateboarding Lessons: Price Adjustment Effective July 1st, 2025

For those who book our individual 1-2-1 skateboarding lessons, we want to inform you of a necessary price adjustment. As some of you know, I've recently moved, which has introduced a significant commute of approximately 45-55 minutes each way to continue offering these highly valued private sessions in Kingston.

To ensure the sustainability of providing this dedicated, personalized coaching and to cover the increased costs associated with this travel, our 1-2-1 lesson pricing will be adjusted as follows, effective July 1st, 2025:

  • 1 Student: £45
  • 2 Students: £65 (£32.50 per person)
  • 3 Students: £85 (£28.33 per person)
  • 4 Students: £105 (£26.25 per person)
  • 5 Students (Maximum due to permit): £120 (£24 per person)

We believe these new rates reflect the exceptional value of our tailored one-on-one and small private group instruction, ensuring you continue to receive focused attention and accelerated progress.

3. Exciting New Option: Post-Lesson Equipment Rental!

We're always looking for ways to enhance your skateboarding journey. While we continue to provide all necessary equipment (skateboard, helmet, pads) free of charge during your scheduled lesson, we're thrilled to introduce a new option for those who want to extend their practice immediately afterward.

For just £5, you can now rent a full set of our quality equipment (skateboard, helmet, and pads) for an additional hour directly after your lesson. This convenient option allows you to keep the fun rolling and cement your new skills without any interruption.

This option will be available for selection via a drop-down menu when booking your Beginners, Level 2, and Teens group lessons. We highly recommend pre-booking this feature to guarantee availability.

4. Expanding Our Saturday Schedule!

Great news for those looking for more private lesson opportunities! We're excited to announce the addition of a new private lesson slot on Saturdays at 2:15 PM. This provides even more flexibility for you to book dedicated one-on-one or small group coaching sessions.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We are incredibly passionate about helping you progress in your skateboarding journey and look forward to seeing you at our lessons!

Happy skating! Coach Dell

Removal of express check out (18th June)

Hey guys, we had  disable express checkout, as this bypasses elements on our checkout page, such as avoiding to agree with our terms, and adding information about the attending student, making it harder to know who is on the calendar. We will monitor any failed payments via Stripe and will try do our best to improve the the checkout process.

Important Update Regarding Our Group Skateboarding Lessons (old)

Hi everyone,

We wanted to keep you informed about a couple of important updates regarding our skateboarding lesson pricing. These adjustments will allow us to continue providing you with the high-quality instruction you've come to expect.

Update 1: Group Skateboarding Lessons

As previously mentioned, due to revised council guidelines, our group lesson sizes are now limited to a maximum of 5 participants. While we initially absorbed the impact of this change, to ensure the long-term viability of our small, focused group lessons and the quality of instruction, a modest price adjustment is necessary.

We will be implementing a two-stage price update for group lessons:

  • Stage 1 (Effective May 19th, 2025): The price per person for our group lessons will be £22.50. This reflects our commitment to absorbing half of the additional cost resulting from the reduced group size.
  • Stage 2 (Effective first week of July): The price per person for our group lessons will be £25.

We appreciate your understanding as we adapt to these changes, which will allow us to maintain the personalised attention and effective learning environment in our small group sessions.

Update 2: 1-2-1 Skateboarding Lessons - Your Feedback Requested

For those of you who book our individual 1-2-1 skateboarding lessons, I wanted to share an important update and ask for your valuable input. As some of you know, I recently moved outside of Kingston but remain dedicated to continuing to provide my services to the fantastic skateboarding community we've built here.

This now involves a significant commute of approximately 45-55 minutes each way. To ensure the sustainability of offering these private lessons and to cover the increased costs associated with this travel, a price adjustment for 1-2-1 lessons will be necessary in the near future.

Before implementing this change, I would greatly appreciate your feedback on a few potential price structures. I will be sending out a brief survey to my regular 1-2-1 clients shortly, outlining the situation and presenting a few price options for your consideration. Your honest opinions will help me ensure that the new pricing is fair and reasonable, considering both the value of the personalized instruction and the added travel expenses.

Once I've had the opportunity to review your feedback, I will communicate the updated 1-2-1 lesson price and its effective date.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I look forward to hearing from you through the survey.

Our beginner level is an introduction to skateboarding, this will include a lot of basic skateboarding and how to ride flat banks, beginners lessons will include some level two skills, so if you do not manage to book a level 2 class, you will find yourself learning in the beginner group even if you have more experience than the rest of the group.

Our Beginner class is designed to build a strong foundation for your skateboarding journey, with a focus on getting comfortable and confident on ramps. You’ll learn the essential skills to ride the smaller ramp sections independently. This includes mastering fundamental techniques like:

  • Getting comfortable balancing and rolling on your skateboard.

  • Learning to push and glide with control.

  • Safely stopping your board.

  • Specifically practicing how to ride smaller ramps on your own.

  • Learning foundational ramp tricks such as fakie kickturns and dropping in on banks.

By joining the Beginner classes, you’ll start to develop a good solid understanding and control of your skateboard, setting you on the path to progress to more challenging terrain.

Level 2 builds upon the skills learned in the Beginner class, focusing on developing more advanced ramp riding techniques and independence. You’ll start to tackle quarter pipes and bigger ramps. A key aspect of Level 2 is learning to execute parts of tricks independently. For example, you might work on confidently dropping into a ramp from a specific corner on your own, while receiving guidance on executing a stall once you reach the ramp. This level aims to foster your ability to approach and ride more complex features with greater self-reliance.

Absolutely! Even if you’re at a Level 2 skill level, the Beginner class can still be beneficial. It provides a great opportunity to refine your fundamental skills on the smaller ramps and ensure you have a solid grasp of techniques like fakie kickturns and dropping in on banks. It’s also a less pressured environment to practice these basics and can be particularly helpful if you’ve missed out on a Level 2 spot and still want to get some valuable skate time in.

Our Weekend slots will reset every Monday.  Some slots will not reset due to rescheduling.

Please note that Kingsfield Skatepark requires a membership card for entry. To avoid delays, we recommend ordering your card before your lesson, as the online form takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. If your card hasn’t arrived by your lesson date, you can use your proof of purchase email for entry.

We take your safety seriously and take every precaution to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.

We want our clients to have fun and feel comfortable during their lessons, and strongly advise all of our students wear full safety equipment, including: helmet, elbow pads and knee pads at all times during our lessons.

If you do not have safety equipment, we can provide a full set of safety equipment free of charge.

To cancel or reschedule a booked lesson, you must provide at least 48 hours’ notice. Failure to do so will result in the full lesson fee being non-refundable.

Wet Weather Policy:

Usk8 aims to be flexible regarding wet weather.

  • Before the Lesson: If wet weather is anticipated, we will contact you to rearrange your lesson to a mutually convenient alternative date. You are also welcome to suggest a nearby indoor location in the Kingston Upon Thames area. If you don’t know of any, please contact us, and we will try to find one. We will not conduct lessons in wet or slippery conditions for safety reasons.
  • During the Lesson: If it begins to rain during your lesson, the lesson duration will be assessed, and a partial discount towards a future rebooking will be offered as follows:
    • Up to 20 minutes completed: 50% discount on a rebooking.
    • 21-30 minutes completed: 30% discount on a rebooking.
    • Over 30 minutes completed: No discount will be applied.

Other Important Notes:

  • Skatepark Membership: If you are refused entry to the skatepark due to not having a valid membership card, we cannot offer a refund or reschedule. Information on obtaining a membership card is available on our [link to your skatepark page]. Any delay to your lesson due to purchasing a card at the gate will not be reimbursed.
  • Late Arrivals: Our weekend lessons operate on a strict schedule due to high demand. If you arrive late, we cannot extend your lesson. However, if your instructor is late, we will extend the lesson to cover the full duration (including any brief breaks requested by the instructor). Please double-check your lesson time, as we cannot extend lessons due to you misreading your booking. We advise you to allow extra travel time as the area around the skatepark can experience traffic and parking limitations.
  • No-Shows: Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice or where the participant does not attend will be charged at the full rate.
  • Usk8 Cancellations: In rare cases, Usk8 may need to cancel a lesson (e.g., due to instructor illness or injury). In such instances, we will provide you with as much advance notice as possible.

Our standard approach to refunds is to first offer the full amount as credit towards future bookings with Usk8. This allows you to easily reschedule or book other sessions.

If you would prefer a refund via your original payment method instead of credit, please let us know. In such cases, the refund will be processed, and please allow up to 14 working days for the funds to clear in your account.

Usk8 Lesson Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully before booking a lesson. By completing a booking for any Usk8 lesson or activity (“Activity”), you (referred to as “Participant” or “You”), and if applicable, the parent or legal guardian of a minor Participant, acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these legally binding Terms and Conditions.

These risks are present for all participants and volunteers. By booking, you voluntarily assume all such risks, known and unknown, associated with your participation.

2. You agree to leave the skatepark or designated activity area immediately if requested to do so by Usk8 staff.

3. Waiver, Release of Liability, and Indemnification: In consideration of Usk8 permitting you to participate in the Activity, by booking this lesson, you, on behalf of yourself, your executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns: (A) WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE Usk8, its event holders, sponsors, organizers, employees, volunteers, representatives, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, including but not limited to, liability arising from the negligence or fault of the Released Parties, for your death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, or actions of any kind which may occur to you during, or in connection with, the Activity, including your travel to and from the Activity. (B) INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND AGREE NOT TO SUE the Released Parties from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of your participation in this Activity, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise. You acknowledge that the Released Parties are NOT responsible for the errors, omissions, acts, or failures to act of any party or entity conducting a specific activity on their behalf, unless such liability cannot be excluded by law.

5. Medical Treatment Consent: By booking, you consent to receive any medical treatment which may be deemed advisable by Usk8 staff or qualified medical personnel in the event of injury, accident, and/or illness during the Activity. This consent does not imply any duty on the part of Usk8 to provide such treatment.

6. Booking, Cancellations, and Rescheduling: * Session Confirmation: Once a session is booked, presume it will go ahead unless Usk8 contacts you. * Adverse Conditions & Minimum Numbers: Usk8 reserves the right to change the session type or cancel a session due to adverse weather conditions, inadequate or unsafe conditions, insufficient participant numbers for group lessons, or other unforeseen circumstances. * Insufficient Group Lesson Attendees: If a scheduled group lesson does not meet the minimum required number of attendees, Usk8 reserves the right to: * Cancel the lesson. In this event, affected participants will be offered a reschedule to another group lesson, a credit, or a full refund. * Alternatively, if only one participant is booked, Usk8 may, at its sole discretion, offer to convert the session into a private lesson at a specially discounted rate for that participant. The participant is under no obligation to accept this offer. * Contact & Rescheduling by Usk8: Usk8 will endeavor to contact you as soon as possible if a session needs to be cancelled or changed. Any session cancelled by Usk8 (that is not converted to a private lesson as per above) will be rescheduled to another mutually agreeable date and time, or a credit/refund may be offered at Usk8’s discretion. * Participant Cancellation: To cancel or reschedule your booking, you must provide Usk8 with at least 24 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled session start time. Failure to provide such notice may result in forfeiture of the session fee.

7. Photography and Videography: You consent to Usk8 taking photographs and/or videos during sessions. These images and recordings may be used by Usk8 free of charge for promotional purposes (including but not limited to social media, website, and print materials) and for sharing amongst participants. If you do not wish for your (or your minor child’s) image or likeness to be used for promotional purposes, you must inform Usk8 staff in writing prior to the commencement of the Activity. Usk8 will always endeavor to respect your wishes.

8. Conduct During Lessons and Post-Lesson Activity: While participating in a Usk8 lesson, you agree to listen attentively to the Usk8 instructor, make reasonable efforts to stay near the instructor and within the designated teaching area, and remain vigilant and considerate of other park users. You further acknowledge and agree that if you choose to continue practicing or using the skatepark facilities independently after your Usk8 lesson has concluded, Usk8 is not responsible or liable for any injuries, damages, or incidents that may occur during such independent activity.

9. Scope of Agreement: These Terms and Conditions shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.

10. The parent/guardian confirms they have the authority to agree to these terms on behalf of the minor.

By proceeding with your booking, you acknowledge that you are at least 18 years of age, or the parent/legal guardian booking on behalf of a minor participant, and that you have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to all the Terms and Conditions outlined above.

Our weekend availability can be found on our website here

We currently run a priority follow up system. This means if you are a current student with a lesson booked for example on Saturday at 10am, once your lesson is complete you can book the following Saturday at 10am before the slot becomes available for the public.

If you do not request a follow up lesson for the same time slot by the end of the day your lesson was ran, it will then be placed on our website on the next Monday.

We understand this means there is less availability for new lessons. We are looking to move into group lessons to accommodate the increased interest.

We reset our lessons every Monday around 8.30-9am, most slots will reset, outside of a couple that are reserved with the priority system.

This is then first come first serve, but on occasion we do get cancellations and slots can become available during the week. So it is worth checking back every now and then.

Half term lessons become available about 10 days before their dates, we usually release half of our lessons first, this allows us to have dates to fall back on if the weather turns poor.

We run lessons within Kingsfield skatepark, please read our skatepark page to find out all information on times, ages, parking, rules and the membership card for the skatepark.

We currently run the following style of lesson

We run lessons for ages 5 and up, as we feel this is the best age where children can focus and take in the information provided.

Skateboarding is an activate sport with risks of falling, you want to wear some older clothes and flat soled trainers.

Please bring a bottle of drink with you to the park.

We lend out all equipment for the skatepark, please let us know in advance if you need anything.

Skateboard, helmet, elbow, knees and wrist guards.

Depending on the condition we have different cancellation rules.

Weather related:

If the weather impacts the lesson we will try postpone your lesson if we have availability after your slot, or reschedule you to another date.

If you are in a lesson and it rains, depending on how much of a lesson that has been completed you may have a discount towards another lesson. If enough of the lesson has been completed, this unfortunately means no rescheduled/discount.

More information can be found on our terms page

If you are refused entry to the skatepark for lack of a membership card, we do not refund or reschedule in this circumstance. We have all the information of how to get your card on our skatepark page. You can purchase a card at the gate, but this delay to the start of your lesson is not reimbursed.

Late arrival to lessons:

We run our weekend lessons on a time schedule as we have a lot of demand. If you’re late to a lesson, we cannot extend your lesson to make up for lost time. If the instructor is late, we will then extend to cover your full hour.

Please leave earlier than what Google Maps suggests, as the area around the skatepark can become busy with traffic and parking is limited.

No show:

We have a 48 hour cancellation period for our lessons. This gives us enough time to fill in that slot with someone else.

If we are not given a heads up for cancellation, your lesson will be charged at the full rate. We do apologies in advance if this happens to you.

On rare occasions lessons will be cancelled from our side. We will give you a heads up notice, this may be due to an injury or the instructor being unwell.

We currently have one instructor running lessons within Kingsfield skatepark. We have supporting instructors for our school events.

You will find Coach Dell being the instructor for your lesson.

Coach Dell has been skateboarding for 24 years, teaching for 8 years, and has taught thousands of students in schools, events and private settings.

We do sell a host of skateboard related equipment. Please ask our instructor what we have on offer.

You can also find online skateshops such as Routeone, Rollersnakes, Skatehut.

Or the local skateshop Natter Jacks in Kingsfield.

We have helped students ride long boards and surfskates.

We currently only have one surfskate board that we can lend out. You will need to share with the instructor for your lesson.

We do not have any longboards to lend out at this stage.

Level 2 lessons are focused more on independent skateboarding, while tackling the more advanced ramps, such as quarter pipes.

Dell has been teaching my 6 year old son to skateboard for a few months. He is excellent with my son. My son had never held a skateboard before and is now able to skateboard by himself 4 months later. Dell is incredibly patient, and gets him to focus and push himself while having fun, and his improvement is remarkable. Best of all, he loves his lessons with Dell and is completely heartbroken if it’s ever too wet or icy to skateboard!

Dell’s an amazing instructor, I’ve had a couple of lessons with him so far and I’ve learnt so much every time. I’m an adult learning so it’s not just for kids! Dell is really great at breaking everything down to learn and helping you improve with every try. Being able to learn at such a great park is also a bonus. Highly recommend!

The whole two days were brilliantly run - the children learnt a lot and had a great time.

As an adult returning to Skateboarding I wanted some lessons to help build confidence. Dell was patient and had a lot of great advice to get me started again. Will definately be booking more lessons as I learnt so much, and also enjoyed every minute.
